Zagros Mountains, Iran

Gabbeh Sunrise

$1,250

Gabbeh means 'raw' or 'natural', and that is exactly the appeal: a thick, high-pile tribal rug woven for warmth and comfort rather than fine detail. This one is joyfully spare: a few soft blocks of ochre and rust, a single wandering motif, nothing more. Deep, plush wool makes it the kind of rug you want under bare feet on a cold morning.
